We have a new home in place
Video to follow on the Photo Gallery in a couple of days. Check out BrockNews.ca on the weekend for a video there. Dale Elliott of BrockNews.ca spent several hours in the bitter cold waiting to take a video of the move.

Members & Friends of the TCCSC,

As Val's pictures show, we have a new home for the ski club!! After a very long day (on the coldest day of the year - of course) we succesfully had the school portable moved from Elgin Elementary School to Mac Mills. It wasn't without its challenges ( I think the moving truck got stuck 5 times!) but we persevered and got it to it's new home.

The movers said the portable was in very good structural shape and that it should provide many years of use for us which validated our initial opinion of it, thankfully.

This is just the beginning of a long journey to make the portable into our new "Chalet". The executive knows we can never replace "The Chalet" with its cathedral ceiling and beautiful picture windows, but we do have some plans to make it feel a little more homey. We would like to cover the steel walls with either wood or wood siding (while trying to minimize upkeep) and install new skirting to cover the exposed block & pad foundation. We want to look at adding more windows and maybe some outside decking to provide us a relaxing spot to look over Marsh Pond.

We want to do some interior renovations as well. Firstly we need some furniture (chairs, tables, etc) and all the little things we miss from the old chalet like a map, sign in book, pictures etc. Over the next little while we could add a changeroom/wax room, kitchenette by adding interior walls.

The next big item to work on is getting Hydro re-connected which we are starting to work on next week. Hopefully by the New Year we have power!

This has been quite a long, arduous journey for the executive and I want to thank everyone involved in getting us to this point. I really feel we have a great starting point to continue with the great tradition of XC skiing (& snowshoeing!) at Mac Mills.

For those we don't see before the Holidays, have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

See you on the trails!
TCCSC Executive
